When something changes outside (or inside) your house - take notice!
Is a light bulb near an entrance? Or in your yard - etc? Take assessment of your exterior regularly
Never answer the door to a stranger for any reason.
Keep your doors locked always!
Keep alarms on your windows!
Get a door jam on doors or bar at foot of slider!
TIP:
Add a camera system outside your house, equipped with night vision, to keep watch on your property when you aren't home. Make sure that these have views of driveways, entrances/ exits, and common areas like decks and patios.
